Are biodegradable plastic bags better?

Reducing Plastic Bag Usage

This is a frequently asked question in todays society and certainly one that our clients constantly ask.  The answer is yes if they are disposed of in the perfect conditions that they need to biodegrade.  Unfortunately the majority of our rubbish today is just dumped in a large rubbish dump, and that is not the ideal condition.  The link below gives a great explanation of not only how a rubbish bag bio-degrades but also the different terminology you may face when buying bags.

We think a better solution is reducing the amount of bin liners and rubbish bags that you need altogether and we are happy to work with our clients to achieve this.  The three main ways we can reduce the amount of rubbish bags used are:
 - encouraging recycling of paper, cardboard, bottles and cans
 - having paper only bins at desks - that don't need bin liners and can be recycled
 - having a central office bin instead of one at each desk
 - seeing if there is anyone at the office that has a compost bin, and might want to have a food rubbish bin they can take home each week and add to their own compost bin

Less rubbish is the best answer!!
